How to Reach Us

Scholarships

From the proceeds of the annual Used Book Sale, the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn Branch of AAUW contributes to the AAUW Fellowships, Grants & Awards program and local scholarships.  Our contributions reach a broad community of women so they may continue to gain access to educational and economic opportunities.

In 2009, the Branch initiated a new local scholarship, the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn AAUW Higher Education Incentive Award.  Each spring, two graduating high school seniors enrolling at the College of DuPage for the fall semester will receive a monetary award.  This scholarship is funded by 20% of the net proceeds of our annual Used Book Sale.

In May 2009, from the proceeds of our 2008 Used Book Sale, we were able to award $1,500 in scholarships.  One $750 award was given to a student at Glenbard West High School and another $750 was awarded to a student at Wheaton North High School.  Similar scholarships were awarded in Spring 2010 from the proceeds of our 2009 Used Book Sale to students at Glenbard South High School and Wheaton Warrenville South High School.

The amount awarded each year depends on the success of the Used Book Sale.

Counselors at each high school will choose the recipient(s) based on the following criteria:

·         Student should have the academic potential to achieve a Bachelor's Degree.

·         Student should be of good character.

·         Student might have been working while in high school and might be continuing that job while going to COD.

If you know someone at one of these schools who may qualify for this scholarship, suggest that the student discuss it with his or her guidance counselor.

The AAUW Fellowships, Grants & Awards Program

AAUW provides Fellowships, Grants & Awards to advance education, research and self-development and to foster equity and positive societal change.

Anyone may make a tax deductible contribution to the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn Branch Research and Project Grant as a memorial, special tribute or for any other occasion.  For more information, email Sue Balk, the branch’s Fellowships, Grants & Awards Chair.
