Branch Meetings

 

Monthly Branch Meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday evening of each month, at 7:00 PM.  Check each month’s Twigs for further details.

WED., JANUARY 4, 2012 -- TITLE IX COMPLIANCE:  HOW COLLEGES RESPOND (OR NOT) TO SEXUAL VIOLENCE ON CAMPUS.  Program presented by Stacy St. Clair, Chicago Tribune Reporter.  7:00 p.m., Glen Ellyn Civic Center*

 

WED., FEBRUARY 1, 2012 -- BRANCH DISCUSSION OF HALF THE SKY (BY NICHOLAS KRISTOFF & SUSAN WU-DUNN).  The recent non-fiction best-seller, Half the Sky, describes how the world's women can deal with issues such as sex trafficking, forced prostitution and maternal mortality.  Group discussion will be led by Branch members, Winifred Creamer and Peggy Connolly.  Copies of the book will be circulating among branch members in the months prior to the meeting.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center*

 

WED., MARCH 7, 2012 – NO NURSING HOME FOR ME!! HOW YOU (OR YOUR PARENTS) CAN AVOID THE NURSING HOME.  Program presented by Sandra Alexander, Illinois Department of Aging.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center*

 

WED., APRIL 4, 2012 -- LOOKING AT FAMILY RELATION-SHIPS AND FAMILY DIFFERENCES THROUGH POETRY.  Presented by Donald Westlake, Local Author and Poet.

WED., MAY 23, 2012 – ANNUAL BANQUET.  A celebration of our achievements for the year:  Book Sale totals revealed; scholarship recipients introduced; and new officers installed.  6:00 p.m.  Glen Oak Country Club, 21W451 Hill Avenue, Glen Ellyn.

CONFERENCES AND CONVENTIONS

 

SAT., OCTOBER 29, 2011 – AAUW-ILLINOIS FALL CONFERENCE.  9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (lunch included) Stronghold Castle in Oregon, Illinois.

 

SAT., JANUARY 28, 2012 – ATRÉVETE A SONAR ˇEDUCATE!

The “Dare to Dream” conference which will be held at Elmhurst College is a one-day program for middle school Latina girls and their mothers and/or mentors.
